[514] A knot (gantha) phenomenon (dhamma) is a condition (paccaya) for a knot phenomenon by predominance condition (adhipati-paccaya): three (cases); they should be made like [those under] the object [condition], with the object esteemed. A non-knot (no-gantha) phenomenon is a condition for a non-knot phenomenon by predominance condition: object-predominance (ārammaṇādhipati) and conascence-predominance (sahajātādhipati). Object-predominance: giving (dāna) … virtue (sīla) … the uposatha observance (uposathakamma) … formerly … from jhāna … The noble ones (ariyā), from the path (magga) … fruition (phala) … Nibbāna … Nibbāna is a condition for change-of-lineage (gotrabhū), for cleansing (vodāna), for the path, for fruition, by predominance condition. The eye (cakkhu) … the base (vatthu) … having esteemed the non-knot aggregates (khandhā), one relishes and delights [in them]; having esteemed that, lust (rāga) arises, wrong view (diṭṭhi) arises. Conascence-predominance: non-knot predominance is a condition for the associated (sampayuttaka) aggregates and for mind-originated (cittasamuṭṭhāna) forms by predominance condition. A non-knot phenomenon is a condition for a knot phenomenon by predominance condition: object-predominance and conascence-predominance. Object-predominance: giving … virtue … the uposatha observance … deeds formerly well practiced … from jhāna … the eye … the base … having esteemed the non-knot aggregates, one relishes and delights in it; having esteemed that, lust arises, wrong view arises. Conascence-predominance: non-knot predominance is a condition for the knots by predominance condition. A non-knot phenomenon is a condition for a knot phenomenon and a non-knot phenomenon by predominance condition: object-predominance and conascence-predominance. Object-predominance: giving … having esteemed the non-knot aggregates, one relishes and delights [in them]; having esteemed that, knots and the associated aggregates arise. Conascence-predominance: non-knot predominance is a condition for the associated aggregates, for the knots, and for mind-originated forms by predominance condition.
