A phenomenon that is not a defilement is a condition for a phenomenon that is not a defilement by decisive-support condition: object decisive-support, proximity decisive-support, natural decisive-support … Natural decisive-support: depending on faith (saddhā), one gives a gift (dāna), arouses conceit (māna), grasps a view (diṭṭhi); [depending on] virtue (sīla) … wisdom (paññā) … lust (rāga), hatred, delusion, conceit, view, longing (patthanā), bodily pleasure … depending on a lodging (senāsana), one gives a gift … causes a schism in the Saṅgha.
