[545] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is both a defilement (kilesa) and subject to defilement (saṅkilesika) is a condition, by immediacy condition (anantara-paccaya), for a phenomenon that is both a defilement and subject to defilement: three [cases]; they are similar to the defilement dyad (kilesa-duka).
A phenomenon that is subject to defilement but not a defilement is a condition, by immediacy condition, for a phenomenon that is subject to defilement but not a defilement: each preceding [group of] aggregates (khandhā) that are subject to defilement but not defilements is a condition, by immediacy condition, for each subsequent [group of] aggregates that are subject to defilement but not defilements; conformity (anuloma) [is a condition] for change-of-lineage (gotrabhū); conformity for cleansing (vodāna); adverting (āvajjanā) is a condition, by immediacy condition, for the aggregates that are subject to defilement but not defilements.
The other two [cases] are similar to [those of] the immediacy [condition] in the defilement dyad, without any difference.
Even the immediacy [condition] in the combinations (ghaṭanā): all conditions are similar to the defilement dyad, without any difference. In the decisive-support [condition] (upanissaya) there is no supramundane [state]; this dyad is similar to the defilement dyad, without any difference.
The Defilement-and-Subject-to-Defilement Dyad (kilesa-saṅkilesika-duka) is finished.
