[1691] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is undefiled but liable to defilement (asaṅkiliṭṭha-saṅkilesika) is a condition, by immediacy condition (anantara-paccaya), for a phenomenon that is undefiled but liable to defilement: the earlier, earlier aggregates that are undefiled but liable to defilement are a condition, by immediacy condition, for the later, later aggregates that are undefiled but liable to defilement; conformity (anuloma) is a condition for change-of-lineage (gotrabhū); conformity is a condition for cleansing (vodāna); adverting (āvajjanā) is a condition, by immediacy condition, for the aggregates that are undefiled but liable to defilement.
