[686] A phenomenon (dhamma) with rapture (sappītika) is a condition for a phenomenon with rapture by immediacy condition (anantara-paccaya):
The preceding aggregates (khandhā) with rapture are a condition for the succeeding aggregates with rapture by immediacy condition.
The root (mūlaṃ) [is to be supplied].
The preceding aggregates with rapture are a condition for the succeeding [phenomenon] without rapture (appītika) and for rapture (pīti) by immediacy condition. The death consciousness (cuticitta) with rapture is a condition for the rebirth consciousness (upapatticitta) without rapture; the life-continuum (bhavaṅga) with rapture is a condition for adverting (āvajjana); the aggregates with rapture are a condition for emergence (vuṭṭhāna) without rapture; the resultant mind-consciousness element accompanied by rapture (pīti-sahagatā vipāka-manoviññāṇadhātu) is a condition for the functional mind-consciousness element (kiriya-manoviññāṇadhātu); the life-continuum with rapture is a condition for the life-continuum without rapture; the wholesome and unwholesome (kusalākusala) with rapture is a condition for emergence without rapture; the functional (kiriya) is a condition for emergence; fruition (phala) is a condition for emergence by immediacy condition.
The root [is to be supplied].
The preceding aggregates with rapture are a condition for the succeeding aggregates with rapture and for rapture by immediacy condition.
A phenomenon without rapture is a condition for a phenomenon without rapture by immediacy condition:
The preceding rapture, which is without rapture, is a condition for the succeeding rapture by immediacy condition; the preceding aggregates without rapture are a condition for the succeeding aggregates without rapture by immediacy condition; conformity (anuloma) is a condition for change-of-lineage (gotrabhū) [and] for the attainment of fruition (phala-samāpatti) without rapture by immediacy condition.
The root [is to be supplied].
The preceding rapture is a condition for the succeeding aggregates with rapture by immediacy condition. The death consciousness without rapture is a condition for the rebirth consciousness with rapture; adverting is a condition for the aggregates with rapture; the aggregates without rapture are a condition for emergence with rapture; the resultant mind element (vipāka-manodhātu) is a condition for the mind-consciousness element with rapture; the life-continuum without rapture is a condition for the life-continuum with rapture; the wholesome and unwholesome without rapture is a condition for emergence with rapture; the functional is a condition for emergence; fruition is a condition for emergence by immediacy condition. For one emerging from cessation (nirodha), the sphere of neither-perception-nor-non-perception (nevasaññānāsaññāyatana) is a condition for the attainment of fruition with rapture by immediacy condition.
