[786] Dependent on a phenomenon (dhamma) of the formless sphere (arūpāvacara), a phenomenon of the formless sphere arises, not by prenascence condition (na-purejāta-paccaya): in the formless [plane], dependent on one aggregate (khandha) of the formless sphere, three aggregates [arise]; at rebirth-linking (paṭisandhi).
The root (mūlaṃ) [is to be supplied]: dependent on the aggregates of the formless sphere, mind-originated form (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa) [arises].
Dependent on a phenomenon not of the formless sphere, a phenomenon not of the formless sphere arises, not by prenascence condition: in the formless [plane], dependent on one aggregate not of the formless sphere, three aggregates [arise]; dependent on two aggregates …; at rebirth-linking, up to the non-percipient beings (asaññasattā).
