[253] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is a root (hetu) and undefiled but liable to defilement (asaṅkiliṭṭha-saṅkilesika) is a condition, by predominance condition (adhipati-paccaya), for a phenomenon that is a root and undefiled but liable to defilement: object-predominance (ārammaṇādhipati), conascence-predominance (sahajātādhipati).
