[769] Dependent on (paṭicca) a non-root (na-hetu) phenomenon (dhamma) with a past object (atītārammaṇa), a non-root phenomenon with a past object arises, not by root condition (na hetupaccayā). Dependent on a non-root phenomenon with a past object, a root (hetu) phenomenon with a past object arises, not by root condition.
