[16] Dependent on a phenomenon (dhamma) that is not clung-to and subject to clinging (na-upādinnupādāniya), a phenomenon that is not clung-to and subject to clinging arises by root condition (hetupaccayā). Dependent on a phenomenon that is not not-clung-to but subject to clinging (na-anupādinnupādāniya), a phenomenon that is not not-clung-to but subject to clinging arises by root condition. Dependent on a phenomenon that is not not-clung-to and not subject to clinging (na-anupādinna-anupādāniya), a phenomenon that is not not-clung-to and not subject to clinging arises by root condition.
