[48] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is not accompanied by roots (na-sahetuka) is a condition (paccaya) for a phenomenon not accompanied by roots by root condition (hetu-paccaya). A phenomenon not accompanied by roots is a condition for a phenomenon that is not rootless (na-ahetuka) by root condition. A phenomenon not accompanied by roots is a condition for a phenomenon not accompanied by roots and a phenomenon that is not rootless by root condition. A phenomenon that is not rootless is a condition for a phenomenon that is not rootless by root condition: three.
