[57] Dependent on (paṭicca) a not-root phenomenon (dhamma) not accompanied by roots (na-hetu na-sahetuka), a not-root phenomenon not accompanied by roots arises by root condition (hetupaccayā): dependent on one great element (mahābhūta), three great elements [arise]. Dependent on a not-root phenomenon not accompanied by roots, a not-root phenomenon that is not rootless (na-hetu na-ahetuka) arises by root condition: at the moment of rebirth-linking (paṭisandhikkhaṇa), dependent on the base (vatthu), the not-root aggregates (khandhā) not accompanied by roots [arise]. Dependent on a not-root phenomenon not accompanied by roots, a not-root phenomenon not accompanied by roots and a not-root phenomenon that is not rootless arise by root condition. Dependent on a not-root phenomenon that is not rootless, a not-root phenomenon that is not rootless arises by root condition. Dependent on a not-root phenomenon that is not rootless, a not-root phenomenon not accompanied by roots arises by root condition. Dependent on a not-root phenomenon that is not rootless, a not-root phenomenon not accompanied by roots and a not-root phenomenon that is not rootless arise by root condition.
