Vinayapiṭaka · Cūḷavagga (1) · Vol. 6 · Section 331

[331] Then the Venerable Upāli approached the Blessed One; having approached and paid homage to the Blessed One, he sat down to one side. Seated to one side, the Venerable Upāli said this to the Blessed One: "Venerable sir, how many interruptions of the nights (ratticcheda) are there for a bhikkhu undergoing probation (parivāsa)?" "Upāli, there are three interruptions of the nights for a bhikkhu undergoing probation: dwelling together (sahavāsa), dwelling apart (vippavāsa), and failure to inform (anārocanā). These, Upāli, are the three interruptions of the nights for a bhikkhu undergoing probation."
