[366] Now at that time a great Saṅgha of bhikkhus had assembled at Sāvatthī. The bhikkhus undergoing mānatta were not able to clear their mānatta (mānatta). Those bhikkhus reported this matter to the Blessed One.
"Bhikkhus, I allow the mānatta to be set aside. And thus, bhikkhus, should it be set aside: that bhikkhu undergoing mānatta should approach a single bhikkhu, arrange his upper robe over one shoulder, squat down on his heels, raise his joined palms, and say to him: 'I set aside the mānatta.' The mānatta is set aside. Or: 'I set aside the observance (vatta).' The mānatta is set aside."
