[387] "Bhikkhus, and it should be given thus. Bhikkhus, that bhikkhu Udāyī should approach the Saṅgha, arrange his upper robe (uttarāsaṅga) over one shoulder, pay homage at the feet of the senior bhikkhus, sit down on his heels, raise his joined palms in reverence (añjali), and speak thus: 'Venerable sirs, I committed one offence (āpatti) of intentional emission of semen (sañcetanikā sukkavisaṭṭhi), concealed for one day. For that one offence of intentional emission of semen, concealed for one day, I requested from the Saṅgha probation (parivāsa) of one day. The Saṅgha granted me probation of one day for that one offence of intentional emission of semen, concealed for one day. Venerable sirs, having completed the probation, I request from the Saṅgha the penance (mānatta) of six nights for that one offence of intentional emission of semen, concealed for one day.'
It should be requested a second time; it should be requested a third time.
