[388] The Saṅgha should be informed by a competent and capable bhikkhu:
"Venerable sirs, let the Saṅgha listen to me. This bhikkhu Udāyī has committed one offense (āpatti) of intentional emission of semen (sañcetanikā sukkavisaṭṭhi), concealed for one day. He has requested from the Saṅgha probation (parivāsa) of one day for that one offense of intentional emission of semen, concealed for one day. The Saṅgha has given the bhikkhu Udāyī probation of one day for that one offense of intentional emission of semen, concealed for one day. He, having completed the probation, requests from the Saṅgha penance (mānatta) of six nights for that one offense of intentional emission of semen, concealed for one day. If it is the right time for the Saṅgha, the Saṅgha should give the bhikkhu Udāyī penance of six nights for that one offense of intentional emission of semen, concealed for one day. This is the motion (ñatti).

The Saṅgha gives the bhikkhu Udāyī penance of six nights for that one offense of intentional emission of semen, concealed for one day. Whichever venerable one approves of the giving of penance of six nights to the bhikkhu Udāyī for that one offense of intentional emission of semen, concealed for one day, let him remain silent; whoever does not approve should speak.
"For the second time also I speak on this matter … For the third time also I speak on this matter: Venerable sirs, let the Saṅgha listen to me. This bhikkhu Udāyī has committed one offense of intentional emission of semen, concealed for one day. He has requested from the Saṅgha probation of one day for that one offense of intentional emission of semen, concealed for one day. "Penance of six nights has been given by the Saṅgha to the bhikkhu Udāyī for that one offense of intentional emission of semen, concealed for one day. It is agreeable to the Saṅgha; therefore it is silent. Thus do I hold it."
