[409] Having completed the penance (mānatta) and being worthy of rehabilitation (abbhāna), he committed in the interim one offense (āpatti) — an intentional emission of semen (sañcetanikā sukkavisaṭṭhi) — not concealed. He informed the bhikkhus: "Friends, I committed one offense — an intentional emission of semen — concealed for five days … Having completed the penance and being worthy of rehabilitation, I committed in the interim one offense — an intentional emission of semen — not concealed. How now should I proceed?" Those bhikkhus reported this matter to the Blessed One. "Well then, bhikkhus, let the Saṅgha, on account of the one interim offense — an intentional emission of semen, not concealed — send the bhikkhu Udāyī back to the beginning (mūlāya paṭikassanā) and grant him the penance for six nights."
