[408] The Saṅgha should be informed by a competent and capable bhikkhu:
"Venerable sirs, let the Saṅgha listen to me. This bhikkhu Udāyī has committed one offense (āpatti): intentional emission of semen (sañcetanikā sukkavisaṭṭhi), concealed for five days … Having completed probation (parivāsa), he requested from the Saṅgha six nights' penance (mānatta) for the three offenses. The Saṅgha gave the bhikkhu Udāyī six nights' penance for the three offenses. While undergoing the penance, he committed one offense in the interval: intentional emission of semen, unconcealed. He requested from the Saṅgha, on account of the one interval offense of intentional emission of semen, unconcealed, a sending back to the beginning (mūlāya paṭikassanā). The Saṅgha sent the bhikkhu Udāyī back to the beginning on account of the one interval offense of intentional emission of semen, unconcealed. He requests from the Saṅgha six nights' penance for the one interval offense of intentional emission of semen, unconcealed. If it is opportune for the Saṅgha, let the Saṅgha give the bhikkhu Udāyī six nights' penance for the one interval offense of intentional emission of semen, unconcealed. This is the motion (ñatti).

"For a second time I speak on this matter …
"For a third time I speak on this matter …
"Six nights' penance for the one interval offense of intentional emission of semen, unconcealed, has been given by the Saṅgha to the bhikkhu Udāyī. It is agreeable to the Saṅgha; therefore it is silent. Thus I hold it."
