[418] While he was undergoing probation (parivāsa), he committed one offence (āpatti) in the interim — intentional emission of semen (sañcetanikā sukkavisaṭṭhi) — concealed for five days. He informed the bhikkhus: "Friends, I committed one offence — intentional emission of semen — concealed for a fortnight. I asked the Saṅgha for a fortnight's probation on account of that one offence — intentional emission of semen — concealed for a fortnight. The Saṅgha granted me a fortnight's probation on account of that one offence — intentional emission of semen — concealed for a fortnight. While I was undergoing probation, I committed one offence in the interim — intentional emission of semen — concealed for five days. How, then, should I proceed?" Those bhikkhus reported this matter to the Blessed One. "Well then, bhikkhus, let the Saṅgha send the bhikkhu Udāyī back to the beginning (mūlāya paṭikassanā) on account of the one offence committed in the interim — intentional emission of semen — concealed for five days — and grant him a combined probation (samodhānaparivāsa) together with the former offence."
