[422] The Saṅgha should be informed by a competent and capable bhikkhu:
"Venerable sirs, let the Saṅgha listen to me. This bhikkhu Udāyi has committed one offence (āpatti) of intentional emission of semen (sañcetanikā sukkavisaṭṭhi), concealed for a fortnight. He asked the Saṅgha for a fortnight's probation (pakkhaparivāsa) for the one offence of intentional emission of semen concealed for a fortnight. The Saṅgha granted the bhikkhu Udāyi a fortnight's probation for the one offence of intentional emission of semen concealed for a fortnight. While undergoing probation, he committed in the interval one offence of intentional emission of semen, concealed for five days. He asked the Saṅgha to be sent back to the beginning (mūlāya paṭikassana) on account of the one intervening offence of intentional emission of semen concealed for five days. The Saṅgha sent the bhikkhu Udāyi back to the beginning on account of the one intervening offence of intentional emission of semen concealed for five days. He asks the Saṅgha for a combined probation (samodhānaparivāsa) together with the former offence, on account of the one intervening offence of intentional emission of semen concealed for five days. If it seems right to the Saṅgha, let the Saṅgha grant the bhikkhu Udāyi a combined probation together with the former offence, on account of the one intervening offence of intentional emission of semen concealed for five days. This is the motion (ñatti).

Whichever venerable one approves the granting to the bhikkhu Udāyi of a combined probation together with the former offence, on account of the one intervening offence of intentional emission of semen concealed for five days, let him be silent; whoever does not approve, let him speak.
"For a second time I speak on this matter … For a third time I speak on this matter …
"The combined probation together with the former offence, on account of the one intervening offence of intentional emission of semen concealed for five days, has been granted by the Saṅgha to the bhikkhu Udāyi. It is acceptable to the Saṅgha; therefore it is silent. Thus do I hold it."
