[424] "Bhikkhus, this is how he should be sent back to the original offence (mūlāya paṭikassitabbo) …"
*[The Pali here elides with …pe…; the formula as expanded in the Thai Royal edition reads:]*
That bhikkhu Udāyī should approach the Saṅgha, arrange his upper robe over one shoulder …
**Request for Sending Back to the Original Offence (mūlāya paṭikassanā)**
"Venerable sirs, I committed one offence of intentional emission of semen (sañcetanikā sukkavisaṭṭhi), concealed for one fortnight …"
A competent and capable bhikkhu should inform the Saṅgha by means of a formal act consisting of a motion and three proclamations (ñatticatutthakamma), thus:
**Formal Proclamation (kammavācā) for Granting mūlāya paṭikassanā**
"Venerable sirs, let the Saṅgha listen to me. This bhikkhu Udāyī committed one offence of intentional emission of semen, concealed for one fortnight …
The bhikkhu Udāyī has been sent back by the Saṅgha to the original offence on account of one interim offence of intentional emission of semen, concealed for five days. It is agreeable to the Saṅgha; therefore it is silent. Thus I hold this matter."
**Procedure for Granting Combined Probation (samodhāna-parivāsa)**
