[524] Bhikkhus, here again a bhikkhu commits several offences (āpatti) of saṅghādisesa. Concerning some offences he is free from doubt; concerning some offences he is doubtful. Those offences concerning which he is free from doubt, he conceals; those offences concerning which he is doubtful, he does not conceal. Having disrobed (vibbhamitvā), he is ordained again. Those offences which, being free from doubt, he formerly concealed — being free from doubt, he does not conceal them afterwards; those offences which, being doubtful, he formerly did not conceal — being free from doubt, he does not conceal them afterwards. Bhikkhus, having granted that bhikkhu probation (parivāsa) for the earlier class of offences (āpattikkhandha) according as they were concealed, penance (mānatta) should be given to him.
