[526] Bhikkhus, here again a bhikkhu commits several offences (āpatti) entailing a formal meeting of the Saṅgha (saṅghādisesa); regarding some offences he is free from doubt, regarding some offences he is doubtful. Those offences about which he is free from doubt he conceals; those offences about which he is doubtful he does not conceal. Having disrobed, he is ordained again; those offences which formerly, being free from doubt, he concealed, those offences afterwards, being free from doubt, he conceals; those offences which formerly, being doubtful, he did not conceal, those offences afterwards, being free from doubt, he does not conceal. Bhikkhus, having given that bhikkhu probation (parivāsa) for the earlier and the later classes of offences according as they were concealed, penance (mānatta) should be given.
