[577] Bhikkhus, here again a bhikkhu commits several saṅghādisesa offences — some measurable, some immeasurable … some distinct, some mixed together. He requests from the Saṅgha combined probation (samodhāna-parivāsa) for those offences. The Saṅgha grants him combined probation for those offences. While he is observing probation, he commits in the interval several saṅghādisesa offences — some measurable, some immeasurable, unconcealed …; some measurable, some immeasurable, concealed …; some measurable, some immeasurable, some concealed and some unconcealed. He requests from the Saṅgha the sending back to the beginning (mūlāya paṭikassana) on account of the interim offences. The Saṅgha sends him back to the beginning on account of the interim offences by a legitimate act (kamma), irreversible and fit to stand; it grants combined probation in accordance with the Dhamma, grants mānatta in accordance with the Dhamma, and rehabilitates (abbheti) him in accordance with the Dhamma. That bhikkhu, bhikkhus, is purified of those offences.
