[64] Bhikkhus, when an act of demotion (niyassakamma) possesses three further factors, it is an act in accordance with the Dhamma (dhammakamma), an act in accordance with the Vinaya (vinayakamma), and well settled: it is done for an offense that is clearable by confession (desanāgāminī āpatti); it is done in accordance with the Dhamma; and it is done by a united [Saṅgha].
Bhikkhus, an act of demotion possessing these three factors is an act in accordance with the Dhamma, an act in accordance with the Vinaya, and well settled.
