[83] "And thus, bhikkhus, should it be revoked. Bhikkhus, that bhikkhu Seyyasaka should approach the Saṅgha, arrange his upper robe over one shoulder, pay homage at the feet of the senior bhikkhus, sit down in the squatting position, raise his joined palms, and say this: 'Venerable sirs, I, upon whom the act of demotion (niyassakamma) has been imposed by the Saṅgha, am behaving properly, am subdued, am conducting myself so as to deserve release; I request the revocation of the act of demotion.' It should be requested a second time; it should be requested a third time. The Saṅgha should be informed by a competent and capable bhikkhu:
"'Venerable sirs, let the Saṅgha listen to me. This bhikkhu Seyyasaka, upon whom the act of demotion has been imposed by the Saṅgha, is behaving properly, is subdued, is conducting himself so as to deserve release; he requests the revocation of the act of demotion. If it seems right to the Saṅgha, the Saṅgha should revoke the act of demotion for the bhikkhu Seyyasaka. This is the motion (ñatti).
"'Venerable sirs, let the Saṅgha listen to me. This bhikkhu Seyyasaka, upon whom the act of demotion has been imposed by the Saṅgha, is behaving properly, is subdued, is conducting himself so as to deserve release; he requests the revocation of the act of demotion. The Saṅgha revokes the act of demotion for the bhikkhu Seyyasaka. Any venerable one who approves of the revocation of the act of demotion for the bhikkhu Seyyasaka should remain silent; anyone who does not approve should speak.
"'For a second time I speak on this matter. Venerable sirs, let the Saṅgha listen to me. This bhikkhu Seyyasaka, upon whom the act of demotion has been imposed by the Saṅgha, is behaving properly, is subdued, is conducting himself so as to deserve release; he requests the revocation of the act of demotion. Any venerable one who approves of the revocation of the act of demotion for the bhikkhu Seyyasaka should remain silent; anyone who does not approve should speak.
"'The act of demotion for the bhikkhu Seyyasaka has been revoked by the Saṅgha. The Saṅgha approves; therefore it is silent. Thus do I hold it.'"
