[275] "And thus, bhikkhus, should it be revoked. Bhikkhus, that bhikkhu Channa should approach the Saṅgha, arrange his upper robe over one shoulder, pay homage at the feet of the senior bhikkhus, sit down on his heels, raise his joined palms in reverence, and speak thus: 'Venerable sirs, I, against whom the Saṅgha has carried out an act of suspension (ukkhepanīyakamma) for not making amends for an offense (āpatti), am conducting myself properly, I have become subdued, I am behaving so as to merit release; I ask for the revocation of the act of suspension for not making amends for an offense.' It should be asked a second time. It should be asked a third time.
The Saṅgha should be informed by a competent and capable bhikkhu: 'Venerable sirs, let the Saṅgha hear me. This bhikkhu Channa, against whom the Saṅgha has carried out an act of suspension for not making amends for an offense, is conducting himself properly, has become subdued, is behaving so as to merit release; he asks for the revocation of the act of suspension for not making amends for an offense. If it is the right time for the Saṅgha, the Saṅgha should revoke the act of suspension for not making amends for an offense for the bhikkhu Channa. This is the motion (ñatti).
Venerable sirs, let the Saṅgha hear me. This bhikkhu Channa, against whom the Saṅgha has carried out an act of suspension for not making amends for an offense, is conducting himself properly, has become subdued, is behaving so as to merit release; he asks for the revocation of the act of suspension for not making amends for an offense. The Saṅgha revokes the act of suspension for not making amends for an offense for the bhikkhu Channa. Whichever venerable one approves of the revocation of the act of suspension for not making amends for an offense for the bhikkhu Channa should remain silent; whoever does not approve should speak.
A second time I speak on this matter. … A third time I speak on this matter. Venerable sirs, let the Saṅgha hear me. This bhikkhu Channa, against whom the Saṅgha has carried out an act of suspension for not making amends for an offense, is conducting himself properly, has become subdued, is behaving so as to merit release; he asks for the revocation of the act of suspension for not making amends for an offense. The Saṅgha revokes the act of suspension for not making amends for an offense for the bhikkhu Channa. Whichever venerable one approves of the revocation of the act of suspension for not making amends for an offense for the bhikkhu Channa should remain silent; whoever does not approve should speak.
The act of suspension for not making amends for an offense has been revoked by the Saṅgha for the bhikkhu Channa. It is approved by the Saṅgha; therefore it is silent. Thus I hold this.'"
