[128] "And thus, bhikkhus, should it be revoked. Bhikkhus, that bhikkhu against whom the act of banishment (pabbājanīyakamma) has been carried out should approach the Saṅgha, arrange his upper robe over one shoulder, pay homage at the feet of the senior bhikkhus, sit down on his heels, raise his joined palms, and should speak thus: 'Venerable sirs, I, against whom the act of banishment has been carried out by the Saṅgha, am conducting myself properly, have lowered my hackles, am behaving so as to deserve release; I ask for the revocation of the act of banishment.' It should be asked for a second time also. It should be asked for a third time also.
The Saṅgha should be informed by a competent and capable bhikkhu: 'Venerable sirs, let the Saṅgha listen to me. This bhikkhu named so-and-so, against whom the act of banishment has been carried out by the Saṅgha, is conducting himself properly, has lowered his hackles, is behaving so as to deserve release, and asks for the revocation of the act of banishment. If it is the right time for the Saṅgha, let the Saṅgha revoke the act of banishment for the bhikkhu named so-and-so. This is the motion.
'Venerable sirs, let the Saṅgha listen to me. This bhikkhu named so-and-so, against whom the act of banishment has been carried out by the Saṅgha, is conducting himself properly, has lowered his hackles, is behaving so as to deserve release, and asks for the revocation of the act of banishment. The Saṅgha revokes the act of banishment for the bhikkhu named so-and-so. Any venerable one to whom the revocation of the act of banishment for the bhikkhu named so-and-so is agreeable should remain silent; anyone to whom it is not agreeable should speak.
'For a second time also I speak on this matter … For a third time also I speak on this matter: Venerable sirs, let the Saṅgha listen to me. This bhikkhu named so-and-so, against whom the act of banishment has been carried out by the Saṅgha, is conducting himself properly, has lowered his hackles, is behaving so as to deserve release, and asks for the revocation of the act of banishment. The Saṅgha revokes the act of banishment for the bhikkhu named so-and-so. Any venerable one to whom the revocation of the act of banishment for the bhikkhu named so-and-so is agreeable should remain silent; anyone to whom it is not agreeable should speak.
'The act of banishment for the bhikkhu named so-and-so has been revoked¹ by the Saṅgha. It is agreeable to the Saṅgha; therefore it is silent. Thus do I hold it.'"
