[217] Bhikkhus, here a bhikkhu against whom the Saṅgha has carried out an act of suspension (ukkhepanīyakamma) for not seeing an offence conducts himself properly, is subdued, and mends his ways, and he asks for the revocation of the act of suspension for not seeing an offence. If in that case the bhikkhus think: "Friends, this bhikkhu, against whom the Saṅgha carried out an act of suspension for not seeing an offence, conducts himself properly, is subdued, and mends his ways, and he asks for the revocation of the act of suspension for an offence. Come, let us revoke for him the act of suspension for not seeing an offence," and they revoke for him the act of suspension for not seeing an offence — in accordance with Dhamma, by an incomplete assembly … contrary to Dhamma, in unanimity; in accordance with Dhamma, by an incomplete assembly; with a semblance of Dhamma, by an incomplete assembly; with a semblance of Dhamma, in unanimity — the cycle should be applied [as before].
