[236] Bhikkhus, here again a bhikkhu against whom the Saṅgha has carried out an act of suspension (ukkhepanīyakamma) for not relinquishing an evil view conducts himself properly, lowers his hackles, behaves so as to merit release, and asks for the revocation of the act of suspension for not relinquishing an evil view. If in that case it occurs to the bhikkhus: "Friends, this bhikkhu against whom the Saṅgha has carried out an act of suspension for not relinquishing an evil view conducts himself properly, lowers his hackles, behaves so as to merit release, and asks for the revocation of the act of suspension for not relinquishing an evil view. Come, let us revoke the act of suspension for not relinquishing an evil view for him." They revoke the act of suspension for not relinquishing an evil view for him — as a faction, contrary to the Dhamma … complete, contrary to the Dhamma; as a faction, in accordance with the Dhamma; as a faction, with a semblance of the Dhamma; complete, with a semblance of the Dhamma. The Saṅgha present there disputes: "It is an act by a faction contrary to the Dhamma; an act by a complete assembly contrary to the Dhamma; an act by a faction in accordance with the Dhamma; an act by a faction with a semblance of the Dhamma; an act by a complete assembly with a semblance of the Dhamma; the act is not done; the act is wrongly done; the act must be done again." Therein, bhikkhus, those bhikkhus who spoke thus: "It is an act by a complete assembly with a semblance of the Dhamma," and those bhikkhus who spoke thus: "The act is not done; the act is wrongly done; the act must be done again" — these bhikkhus therein are speakers of Dhamma. These five sections also are given in brief.
The Campeyyakkhandhaka, the ninth, is finished.
