Vinayapiṭaka · Mahāvagga (2) · Vol. 5 · Section 212

[212] Bhikkhus, here a bhikkhu, having committed an offense (āpatti), does not wish to see the offense. If in that case the bhikkhus think thus: "Friends, this bhikkhu, having committed an offense, does not wish to see the offense; come now, let us carry out against him an act of suspension (ukkhepanīyakamma) for not seeing the offense," and they carry out against him an act of suspension for not seeing the offense — divided, contrary to the Dhamma … united, contrary to the Dhamma; divided, in accordance with the Dhamma; divided, with a semblance of the Dhamma; united, with a semblance of the Dhamma. The wheel of permutations (cakka) should be worked out. Bhikkhus, here again a bhikkhu, having committed an offense, does not wish to make amends for the offense. If in that case the bhikkhus think thus: "Friends, this bhikkhu, having committed an offense, does not wish to make amends for the offense; come now, let us carry out against him an act of suspension for not making amends for the offense," and they carry out against him an act of suspension for not making amends for the offense — divided, contrary to the Dhamma … united, contrary to the Dhamma; divided, in accordance with the Dhamma; divided, with a semblance of the Dhamma; united, with a semblance of the Dhamma. The wheel of permutations should be worked out. Bhikkhus, here again a bhikkhu does not wish to relinquish an evil view. If in that case the bhikkhus think thus: "Friends, this bhikkhu does not wish to relinquish an evil view; come now, let us carry out against him an act of suspension for not relinquishing an evil view," and they carry out against him an act of suspension for not relinquishing an evil view — divided, contrary to the Dhamma … united, contrary to the Dhamma; divided, in accordance with the Dhamma; divided, with a semblance of the Dhamma; united, with a semblance of the Dhamma. The wheel of permutations should be worked out.
