[226] Now at that time the group-of-six bhikkhus had an imaginative picture (paṭibhāṇacitta) made in a dwelling — a figure of a woman, a figure of a man. People wandering on a tour of the dwellings, seeing this, complained, criticized, and spread it about: "…like householders who enjoy sensual pleasures…" They reported this matter to the Blessed One. "Bhikkhus, an imaginative picture should not be had made — a figure of a woman or a figure of a man. Whoever should have one made commits an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa). I allow, bhikkhus, wreath-work (mālākamma), creeper-work (latākamma), makara-tooth work (makaradantaka), and the five-band design (pañcapaṭika)."
