[302] Now at that time bhikkhus, having taken up building work (navakamma), depart, and disrobe, and die; some acknowledge that they are novices (sāmaṇera); some acknowledge that they have renounced the training; some acknowledge that they have committed a gravest offence (antimavatthu); some acknowledge that they are mad; some acknowledge that they are of deranged mind (citta); some acknowledge that they are racked by feeling (vedanā); some acknowledge that they have been suspended for not seeing an offence; some acknowledge that they have been suspended for not making amends for an offence; some acknowledge that they have been suspended for not relinquishing a pernicious view; some acknowledge that they are paṇḍakas; some acknowledge that they are living in communion by theft; some acknowledge that they have gone over to another sect; some acknowledge that they are animals; some acknowledge that they are matricides; some acknowledge that they are patricides; some acknowledge that they are murderers of an arahant; some acknowledge that they are violators of a bhikkhunī; some acknowledge that they are schismatics; some acknowledge that they are shedders of (a Tathāgata's) blood; some acknowledge that they are of dual sexual characteristics (ubhatobyañjanaka). They informed the Blessed One of this matter.
