Vinayapiṭaka · Cūḷavagga (2) · Vol. 7 · Section 329

[329] Now at that time the Saṅgha had no assigner of lodgings (senāsanapaññāpaka) … had no storeroom keeper (bhaṇḍāgārika) … had no receiver of robes (cīvarapaṭiggāhaka) … had no distributor of robes … had no distributor of rice-gruel (yāgu) … had no distributor of fruit … had no distributor of hard food (khajjaka). The hard food, not being distributed, spoiled. They reported this matter to the Blessed One. "Bhikkhus, I allow you to appoint as distributor of hard food a bhikkhu endowed with five qualities: one who would not take a wrong course out of desire, would not take a wrong course out of hatred, would not take a wrong course out of delusion, would not take a wrong course out of fear, and who would know what has been distributed and what has not been distributed."
