[330] "Bhikkhus, he should be appointed (sammannitabbo) thus. First, the bhikkhu should be asked. Having asked him, a competent and capable bhikkhu should inform the Saṅgha:
'Venerable sirs, let the Saṅgha listen to me. If the Saṅgha is ready, let the Saṅgha appoint the bhikkhu named so-and-so as distributor of solid food (khajjakabhājaka). This is the motion (ñatti).
'Venerable sirs, let the Saṅgha listen to me. The Saṅgha appoints the bhikkhu named so-and-so as distributor of solid food. Should the appointment of the bhikkhu named so-and-so as distributor of solid food be agreeable to any venerable one, let him remain silent; should it not be agreeable to any, let him speak.
'The bhikkhu named so-and-so has been appointed by the Saṅgha as distributor of solid food. It is agreeable to the Saṅgha; therefore it is silent. Thus do I hold this matter.'"
