[526] Now at that time bhikkhunīs (bhikkhunī) did not make amends for an offence (āpatti) … Those bhikkhus reported this matter to the Blessed One … "Bhikkhus, a bhikkhunī must not fail to make amends for an offence; whoever should not make amends commits an offence of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa)." The bhikkhunīs did not know: "An offence should be made amends for even in this way" … Those bhikkhus reported this matter to the Blessed One … "Bhikkhus, I allow bhikkhus to instruct bhikkhunīs thus: 'You should make amends for an offence in this way.'"
Then it occurred to the bhikkhus: "By whom should the offence of bhikkhunīs be accepted?" Those bhikkhus reported this matter to the Blessed One … "Bhikkhus, I allow bhikkhus to accept the offence of bhikkhunīs."
