[12] The saṅghādisesa for one who speaks in praise of ministering to oneself with sensual pleasure (attakāmapāricariyā) in the presence of a woman — where was it laid down (paññatta)? — It was laid down at Sāvatthī. Concerning whom? — Concerning the Venerable Udāyī. In what matter? —
Then again Sumana the wise, named after a flower, of great learning;
Mahāsiva, a great expounder, skilled in the entire Piṭaka;
Then again Upāli the wise, confident in the Vinaya;
Mahānāga of great wisdom, skilled in the lineage of the true Dhamma;
Then again Abhaya the wise, skilled in the entire Piṭaka;
And the Elder Tissa, wise, confident in the Vinaya;
His pupil of great wisdom, named after a flower, of great learning,
Guarding the Teaching, established in Jambudīpa;
And Cūḷābhaya the wise, confident in the Vinaya;
And the Elder Tissa, wise, skilled in the lineage of the true Dhamma;
And Cūḷadeva the wise, confident in the Vinaya;
And the Elder Siva, wise, skilled in the entire Vinaya —
These nāgas of great wisdom, knowers of the Vinaya, skilled in the path,
Made the Vinaya shine forth on the island — the Piṭaka in Tambapaṇṇi.
