[245] One taking what is not given (adinnaṃ ādiyanto) — how many offenses (āpatti) does he commit? One taking what is not given commits three offenses: he takes, with intent reckoned as theft (theyyasaṅkhātaṃ), what is not given, worth five māsakas or more than five māsakas — an offense of pārājika; he takes, with intent reckoned as theft, what is not given, worth more than one māsaka but less than five māsakas — an offense of thullaccaya; he takes, with intent reckoned as theft, what is not given, worth one māsaka or less than one māsaka — an offense of dukkaṭa. One taking what is not given commits these three offenses.
