[788] Having requested curds and eating them, how many offenses (āpatti) does she commit?
Having requested curds and eating them, she commits two offenses: in accepting with the thought, "I shall eat," there is an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa); for every mouthful swallowed, there is an offense to be acknowledged (pāṭidesanīya). Having requested curds and eating them, she commits these two offenses.
Those offenses — of the four failures (vipatti), to how many failures do they belong? Of the seven classes of offenses (āpattikkhandha), by how many classes of offenses are they comprised? Of the six origins of offenses (samuṭṭhāna), from how many origins do they originate? Of the four legal issues (adhikaraṇa), which legal issue are they? Those offenses belong to one of the four failures: failure of conduct (ācāravipatti). Of the seven classes of offenses, they are comprised by two classes of offenses: sometimes by the class of offenses to be acknowledged, sometimes by the class of offenses of wrong-doing. Of the six origins of offenses, they originate from four origins: sometimes they originate from body, not from speech, not from mind (citta); sometimes they originate from body and speech, not from mind; sometimes they originate from body and mind, not from speech; sometimes they originate from body, speech, and mind. Of the four legal issues, it is the legal issue concerning offenses (āpattādhikaraṇa). Of the seven means of settlement, they are settled by three means of settlement: sometimes by verdict in the presence (sammukhāvinaya) together with acting upon acknowledgment (paṭiññātakaraṇa); sometimes by verdict in the presence together with covering over as with grass (tiṇavatthāraka).
