[973] There is the case where one, taking [it] himself, commits a grave offence (garukā āpatti), but instigating [another], a light offence (lahukā āpatti). There is the case where one, both taking [it] himself and instigating [another], commits a grave offence. There is the case where one, both taking [it] himself and instigating [another], commits a light offence.
There is a person worthy of salutation (abhivādana) but not worthy of being risen up for; there is a person worthy of being risen up for but not worthy of salutation; there is a person both worthy of salutation and worthy of being risen up for; there is a person neither worthy of salutation nor worthy of being risen up for.
There is a person worthy of a seat (āsana) but not worthy of salutation; there is a person worthy of salutation but not worthy of a seat; there is a person both worthy of a seat and worthy of salutation; there is a person neither worthy of a seat nor worthy of salutation.
