[104] Or just as some honorable ascetics and brahmins, while enjoying food given in faith, remain engaged in injuring seed life and plant life (bījagāma-bhūtagāma) of such kinds — namely: plants propagated from roots, plants propagated from stems, plants propagated from fruits, plants propagated from shoots, and plants propagated from seeds themselves as the fifth — he refrains from injuring seed life and plant life of such kinds. This too pertains to his virtuous conduct (sīla).
