[363] When this was said, the brahmin Lohicca said to the Blessed One: "But, worthy Gotama, is there any teacher in the world who does not deserve to be reprimanded?"
"There is, Lohicca, a teacher who does not deserve to be reprimanded in the world."
"But who, worthy Gotama, is the teacher who does not deserve to be reprimanded in the world?"
"Here, Lohicca, a Tathāgata arises in the world, an Arahant, a Perfectly Awakened One … (to be expanded here as in the Sāmaññaphala Sutta) … Thus, Lohicca, a bhikkhu is accomplished in virtue (sīla) … he enters and dwells in the first jhāna. When, Lohicca, under a teacher a disciple attains such a lofty distinction, that teacher, Lohicca, is one who does not deserve to be reprimanded in the world; and should anyone reprimand such a teacher, that reprimand is untrue, incorrect, contrary to the Dhamma, and blameworthy … the second jhāna … the third jhāna … he enters and dwells in the fourth jhāna. When, Lohicca, under a teacher a disciple attains such a lofty distinction, that teacher too, Lohicca, is one who does not deserve to be reprimanded in the world; and should anyone reprimand such a teacher, that reprimand is untrue, incorrect, contrary to the Dhamma, and blameworthy … he directs and inclines the mind (citta) toward knowledge and vision (ñāṇadassana). When, Lohicca, under a teacher a disciple attains such … he understands: '… there is nothing further for this state of being.' When, Lohicca, under a teacher a disciple attains such a lofty distinction, that teacher, Lohicca, is one who does not deserve to be reprimanded in the world; and should anyone reprimand such a teacher, that reprimand is untrue, incorrect, contrary to the Dhamma, and blameworthy."
