[116] Or whereas some honorable ascetics and brahmins, while enjoying food given in faith, make their living by wrong livelihood (micchājīva), by such low lore (tiracchānavijjā) as this — that is to say: 'There will be a marching forth of the kings; there will be no marching forth of the kings; there will be an advance of the kings within; there will be a retreat of the kings without; there will be an advance of the kings without; there will be a retreat of the kings within; there will be victory for the kings within, there will be defeat for the kings without; there will be victory for the kings without, there will be defeat for the kings within; thus there will be victory for this one, there will be defeat for that one' — he refrains from such low lore, from such wrong livelihood. This too pertains to his virtue (sīla).
