[45] Bhikkhus, there are some ascetics and brahmins who are speculators about the final end (aparantakappikā), holding views concerning the final end, who, with reference to the final end, assert various propositions of conviction (adhimuttipadāni) on forty-four grounds. And relying on what, with reference to what, do those honorable ascetics and brahmins, speculators about the final end, holding views concerning the final end, with reference to the final end, assert various propositions of conviction on forty-four grounds?
