[62] Bhikkhus, as to those ascetics and brahmins who are speculators about the final end (aparantakappikā), holding views about the final end (aparantānudiṭṭhino), who, concerning the final end, assert various propositions of conviction (adhimuttipadāni) on forty-four grounds — that too is merely the feeling (vedayita) of those worthy ascetics and brahmins who do not know and do not see; it is merely the agitation (paritassita) and vacillation (vipphandita) of those in the grip of craving (taṇhā).
