[55] Therein, bhikkhus, as for those ascetics and brahmins who are proponents of chance origination and who, on two grounds, declare that the self and the world arose by chance (adhiccasamuppanna) — that too is only the feeling (vedayita) of those worthy ascetics and brahmins who do not know and do not see; it is only the agitation and vacillation of those in the grip of craving (taṇhā).
