[104] **Wilderness** means whatever is taken possession of by human beings — that is wilderness.
**Goods situated in the wilderness** means goods deposited in the wilderness in four locations: situated in the earth, situated on the ground, situated in the air, situated aloft.
If, intending to steal, thinking, "I shall take goods situated in the wilderness," he searches for a companion or goes there: an offence of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa). If he touches it: an offence of wrong-doing. If he makes it move: a grave offence (thullaccaya). If he moves it from its place: an offence entailing defeat (pārājika).
If, intending to steal, he touches wood, or a creeper, or grass growing there, worth five māsakas or more than five māsakas: an offence of wrong-doing. If he makes it move: a grave offence. If he moves it from its place: an offence entailing defeat.
