[154] Now at that time a certain bhikkhu, having seen goods on a vehicle, thought, "If I take it from here, I shall become one who is defeated (pārājika)"; so, having stepped on it and rolled it off, he took it. Remorse arose in him. … "Bhikkhu, you have committed an offense (āpatti) entailing defeat (pārājika)."
