[161] Now at that time, during a famine (dubbhikkha) in Sāvatthī, a certain bhikkhu, with thieving intent (theyyacitta), took away a handful of rice grains belonging to a shopkeeper. He was remorseful … "Bhikkhu, you have committed an offense (āpatti) entailing defeat (pārājika)."
