[535] A bhikkhu, having given instructions, departs, saying, "Build a dwelling (vihāra) for me," and he instructs: "Let the site be one that has been designated, and let it be without harm and with space around it." They build the dwelling for him on a site that has not been designated, involving harm, without space around it. He hears: "A dwelling, it is said, is being built for me on a site that has not been designated, involving harm, without space around it." That bhikkhu should either go himself or send a messenger, saying: "Let the site be one that has been designated, and let it be without harm and with space around it." If he should neither go himself nor send a messenger, there is an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa). … "Let the site be one that has been designated, and let it be without harm." … "Let the site be one that has been designated, and let it have space around it." … "Let the site be one that has been designated." If he should neither go himself nor send a messenger, there is an offense of wrong-doing.
