[578] The robe pretext (cīvaralesa) means: a rag-robe wearer (paṃsukūlika) has been seen … a wearer of a householder's robe has been seen committing an offense entailing expulsion (pārājika). Having seen another wearer of a householder's robe, he accuses him: "A wearer of a householder's robe was seen by me — you have committed a pārājika offense; you are no ascetic, you are no son of the Sakyans …" or "… a Saṅgha act" — for each and every utterance there is an offense entailing formal meetings of the Saṅgha (saṅghādisesa).
